WHO WE ARE
CBI, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, offers the nation's first lithium-ion battery manufacturing hands on training program based in a lab and dry room setting, approved by the North Carolina Community College System(NCCCS)., and delivered through a two-year college's continuing education program.

The Carolina Battery Institute (CBI) collaborates with industry and education leaders to empower underserved communities in the Carolinas. Its goal is to break down barriers, offering hands-on experience in advanced technology fields while strengthening the nation’s workforce.

The Carolina Battery Institute (CBI) envisions a future where cutting-edge training empowers a diverse workforce to lead in lithium-ion battery and electric vehicle innovation. As the nation's first provider of hands-on battery manufacturing training in state-of-the-art lab and dry room environments, fully endorsed by the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS), CBI is committed to breaking barriers and creating equitable pathways to success in this transformative and rapidly evolving industry.
THE VALUE
CBI, with partners like Guilford Technical Community College(GTCC), Guilford Works, and Soelect Inc., advances North Carolina’s high-tech workforce with an economic impact exceeding $200 million. Offering 40-hour courses in Battery Manufacturing, Quality, and Testing, CBI provides barrier-free access to quality jobs, particularly for disadvantaged communities. As a registered NC Apprenticeship Program provider, it continues to grow through strong community and industry collaborations.
